  • QUALITY STANDARD OF CHINA NORI

    NORI quality-standard

    Standard dimension of nori full sheet is 190mmX210mm and ±5 mm allowed. Weight from 280g~330g per 100sheets and humidity ≤7% from dry nori.

    We offer four grades from high to low including A/B/C/D, which people also name that Gold/Silver/Blue/Green. Generally Youngest raw nori from first harvest [一番摘み] every year could be the best quality (the older the worse), however we need to finally grade on a finished product after entire processing. Based on the guide of official institute and our years of practices, the quality standard for yaki nori as following.

    Grade A
    blackish green, pretty bright, no broken hole or bad spots, smooth, tidy borders, typical flavour and crispy.

    Grade B
    deep green, bright, within 3 broken holes (dia 2mm), within 3 positions and 3x3mm bad spots, smooth, less tidy borders, typical flavour and less crispy.

    Grade C
    green, less bright, within 4 broken holes (dia 3mm), within 5 positions and 5x5mm bad spots, less smooth, less tidy borders, typical flavour and slightly chewy.

    Grade D
    shallow green, matt, within 4 broken holes (dia 3mm), within 7 positions and 5x5mm bad spots, less smooth, less tidy borders, weak flavour and chewy.
